MatchpointKings

♣ About the room

Who keeps this table

A small studio, one game, and a stubborn preference for doing a single thing properly.

MatchpointKings is a free social card room built by a small independent team who make browser games for people who like the shape of a casino night without any of its consequences. We are designers and engineers rather than operators, with a background in card-game design and front-end engineering.

The studio began with a complaint. Social casinos, as a category, had become vending machines — dozens of near-identical titles arranged to keep a player clicking until something else caught their eye. We wanted to know what happened if you removed the corridor entirely and left a single, well-lit table at the end of it. The answer, it turns out, is that people play more slowly and enjoy it more, which suited us fine.

Everything on this site runs in your browser. There is no account to create, no profile to maintain, no leaderboard to chase, and no server keeping score of your evening. The deck is shuffled locally, the balance sits in memory, and closing the tab genuinely ends the session. We think that is the correct amount of ceremony for a game about guessing whether a Queen beats a Seven.

On the visual side, the room borrows from the geometry of the 1920s card salon: sharp black and ivory, one decisive red, sunburst linework, and the four suits treated as abstract marks rather than pictures. No crowns, no velvet, no photographs of cards fanned across green baize. The intention was a room that feels composed rather than loud, and a table you would be happy to sit at alone.

We are not a gambling company and we hold no gambling licence, because nothing offered here is gambling. The coins are decorative and cost nothing; there is no store, no deposit, no withdrawal, and no mechanism by which anything of value enters or leaves. The Final Call is played for the same reason people play solitaire: because the next card is interesting.

Questions, bug reports, and arguments about whether ties should lose all reach us the same way — through the support page. We read everything, and we answer most of it within a couple of working days. If you are here to check the small print first, the terms, privacy notice, and responsible play guidance are all short enough to read in one sitting, which was also deliberate.
